For more than 25 years, Paul has used cell engineering and microbiology to find solutions to societal needs like pain treatment, cancer, vaccines, and renewable energy.

Paul is the co-inventor of N-001, a novel, long lasting, non-addictive pain therapeutic.

Paul earned his Ph.D from the University of California, Davis, in 1984, and a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his postdoctoral fellowships at UC Berkeley and Stanford University Medical School.
