Alex is an Analyst at IndieBio, where he is primarily responsible for sourcing companies and performing due diligence for SOSV’s Ireland Bio-manufacturing Fund. Alex also sources deals and supports portfolio companies through the IndieBio San Francisco program.
Prior to joining SOSV, Alex worked as a management consultant for Deloitte and a smaller boutique firm focused on sustainability strategy. In this role, he worked with Fortune 100 companies to design, implement, and scale value chain decarbonization programs. He has expertise in enabling innovation in large companies through experimental pilot projects. Alex also worked as a researcher at the Ryan Institute in Ireland, where he studied sustainable food system development in Vietnam and co-founded a digital agronomy start-up focused on low-tech horticulture. Alex is passionate about leveraging technology and innovation to address global issues that impact those left furthest behind.
Alex has three Bachelors of Philosophy in Finance, Accounting, and Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science in Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security from the University of Galway in Ireland which he attended on the prestigious George J. Mitchell scholarship. In his free time, Alex enjoys mountaineering, rock climbing, surfing, and volunteering on farms across Ireland.
