Somaya brings a background in behavioral psychology, administrative coordination, and research to her role at IndieBio NYC. A psychology graduate from City College of New York, she is especially passionate about how people think, connect, and engage with the world around them. This curiosity led her to conduct experimental psychology research at the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy and Campus Biotech in Switzerland.

Having worked in research-driven environments and supported multilingual, diverse teams, Somaya thrives in roles where relationship-building and problem-solving blend together. She enjoys building thoughtful, organized systems that help teams run smoothly and stay connected.

Outside of work, Somaya can usually be found on the mats (competing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu), skiing, hiking, or immersing into new worlds through her books. She’s endlessly curious and motivated by work that connects innovation with real-world human impact.
