Jessica Scorpio is a Founder and VP of Marketing at Getaround, a carsharing community founded to leverage the 1 Billion cars on the planet, building cleaner, smarter cities.
Prior to launching Getaround, Jessica completed the inaugural Graduate Studies Program at Singularity University (SU ’09), a school launched by Ray Kurzweil, Peter Diamandis, NASA, and Google focused on inspiring future leaders to understand, and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies in order to address humanity’s grand challenges.
Before founding Getaround, Jessica worked for the Government of Canada and is also the former Founder and CEO of IDEAL, a not-for-profit network for entrepreneurs and young leaders.
Since founding Getaround Jessica has conquered some serious challenges head on – including launching legislation in several states to legalize her idea, working with Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway to create a first-of-it’s-kind insurance product for car sharing, and, more recently, tackling the challenges associated with scaling a hyper-local business across the country.
Jessica is passionate about the impact Sharing Economy companies can have on the lives of everyday people while helping to build sustainable, close-knit cities and communities, and has been recognized by numerous publications including Forbes, Fortune, Inc, Elle and CNBC for her work. She is also a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper, Forbes 30 Under 30, and frequent speaker at events such as Google Zeitgeist, TechCrunch Disrupt, Big Omaha, TNW Conference and SXSW Interactive.
